How do you store documents uploaded to Redmine?

We are testing the Redmine system and one of the issues that has arisen is how to store the documentation Redmine up to MySQL. The question is:

Documents to be stored in Redmine, is stored directly in database or stored in directories with the corresponding link from the database?.

The issue is that probably for every project we want to store enough information on the record and need to know how to manage such information Redmine.

I think the best would be not be stored, documents directly to MySQL, but do not know if that is what you are doing Redmine.

Attachments and files are stored in the files directory in your redmine directory.
