What about repeating issues?

Added by Maxim Krušina about 16 years ago

I don't have exact vison how to do it, but it should be very handy. I already thrown away my Outlook's tasks, so this feature can help a lot (for example to remember monthy activities, etc.). What do you think?

Can you describe what you mean by "repeating issues"? I have difficulties to understand what you mean that way...

In Outlooks taks, I can define repeating tasks. It's usefull for things like "create invoice every 3 months for hosting" or "pay monthly rent every 15. day each month".
Probably this can't be implemented into logic of single ticket, rather there can be (maybe?) editor to create repeating tasks.
It's because you have to close this month's issue but not close next month issue.
I think best overview you can get by examining outlook.
If you're interested I can prepare more detailed analysis.

Thanx

My thoughts on this topic:

  • Define a custom text field for tickets.
  • Add a template ticket (task) containing a description in the custom field when the task should reoccur (in whatever format).
  • Have a cron job check your tickets on a regular basis (using script/runner) and copy the ticket if the condition in the custom field is met.

I guess this is something which should be done by a plugin.

I yhink that plugin will be good sillution, because this is specific approach which is not for everyone.

in the absence of a plugin for this to date - could you help me put together a 'cron'? job using 'script/runner'? to make 6 monthly type tasks?
