Blocked redmine issues cannot be closed ?!?

It took me a long time to figure this out. Why the workflow was set to allow closure, was project manager, admin, and yet could not set a particular issue to 'closed' state.

I even started digging through the html & ruby source.

Maybe with this forum post somebody will stumble upon it via google with much less time & frustration than it took me to figure it out.

I just wrote about this feature about 9 hours ago in issue #9331 note-2 :)

As you can read in the references I mentioned, it is a bit more complex opposing your statement. As a native Dutchmen I'd think about a well-known proverb: "The soup isn't always eaten as hot as it is served." Let me explain...

One of the four issue-relations available for use in Redmine is "Blocked by". The actual implementation (revision r2800 for issue #1740) of this blocked by-relationship is done by preventing issues which are blocked by another issue that has an open status, to move through the workflow to another status which is configured to behave as a closed issue status, by rejecting/hiding those statuses from the status-list (as proposed and patched in issue #2132).
