Noob Question : What is the difference between a patch and a plugin .
I am looking to do some customization on my redmine instances . How can i decide if i have to make available these modifications as a plugin or a patch?

That post is about "patch vs defect" while this one is about "patch vs plugin".

I agree here. Despite that, if some modification can be done using plugin it is the preferred way to do it. This prevents troublesome upgrades of patched Redmine instances.

Ok . Thanks for the clarification . I was asking to know if there is some rule or mandate regarding this. Something like "if modifications involves "this" and "this" changes then make a plugin otherwise make a patch " .
