Upgrade from 1.2.0 to 2.2.3?

Added by Rossen Apostolov over 11 years ago

Hi,

I have an outdated 1.2.0 installation that needs an upgrade. Are there any pitfalls to be aware of before doing it? Do you recommend an intermediate upgrade?

Thanks, Rossen

Well, 1.2.0 is really outdated.
Since 1.4.0, Redmine uses bundler.
Redmine 2.3.0 works with ruby 1.8.7 but IMHO it would be better to upgrade to 1.9.3.
Perhaps 1.2.0 uses mysql adapter; 2.3.0 with ruby 1.9.3 uses mysql2 adapter.
Plugins have different versions for < 2.0.0 and for >= 2.0.0. First find compatible versions for your plugins.

See list of plugins that are compatible with 2.2.0 and are probably compatible with 2.3.0. This list is not full.

Starting with 0.9.3 I stepped thorough every version, even minor ones too and haven't had any problems. You have to do big leap .... may be 1.2.0 -> 1.4.0 -> 2.3.0 or 1.2.0 -> 1.4.0 -> 2.0.0 -> 2.3.0

I'll try the suggested steps!

FTR, I went from 1.4.3 straight to 2.2.1 without any problems.
