How to contribute
Added by Eric Davis over 15 years ago
I've just started a page on some of the ways to contribute back to Redmine. I'll be improving it over time but I wanted to get a list of some common tasks that I can direct people to. If you're interested in contributing but need help finding something specific to do, post a comment in this thread with the following and I'll try to point you in a general direction.
- what interests you (e.g. plugin development, documentation)
- your experience with Redmine, Ruby on Rails, and anything else (e.g. several years experience, new to it but wanting to learn)

Hi Craigg,
welcome to the Redmine community. Eric hasn't been active since 2011 but I think I also can tell you something about the project. There are at least three people with commit rights to the SVN repository at the moment. Nowadays most of the commits are made by Go MAEDA and just occasionally by JPL himself. There's a vital community behind Redmine and people are actively contributing to it. Many companies, too. And if Jean-Philippe gets hit by a bus or freaks out (hopefully never), the community is also able to fork Redmine and develop it further at other places of the internet.
If you have any further questions about Redmine, don't hesitate to ask. There are also chatrooms on IRC and Slack to get anwers.
Kind regards,
Bernhard

Hi There,
I'd like to contribute a "HowTo" to the Wiki that I've developed for installing Redmine 4.2.1 on CentOS 7 with SELinux, Apache 2.4, Passenger, however not using the Passenger GEM, using the Passenger packages so that we get SELinux polices that work out of the box.
How wold I go about doing this?
Thanks!

You can also help to improve the Redmine Guide, e.g. translate the guide into your favorite language: Guide
