Subscription to public projects

Added by Richard Rauch almost 7 years ago

Is it possible for a user, to "subscribe" by himself to a public project, in which he is interested?
or to become a member by himself?

or is there another way, I do not know?
At the moment, the project manager needs to add each user to member list, who wants to be informed about updates.

Just have a look at the Redmine project here. You are no member of the project but you can watch or subscribe to news, issues or discussions so you get notified via email if there is an update on them. What "updates" do you mean in particular?

Hello, many thanks for quick answer!

I see the star in news tab in Redmine project here. This I can use for subscribing on news.
Unfortunately in my installation of Redmine this star is not visible. What could be wrong?
I am using Redmine V2.3.3. Because of several plugins I am afraid of updating to newest version!
Watches for single issues and forums is working.

Beside news I would want further , that customer is able to subscribe to changes in roadmap and issues in general.
E.g. if a new bug/issue occurs, he should be informed automatically.

This feature (#2549) was implemented in 2.5.0 so there's nothing wrong with your installation. Perhaps your customers can subscribe to the RSS feed of the activity section but I have no clue if it's available in your version.

I have found this plugin: https://www.redmine.org/plugins/subscription
Seems, it provides all features, I need.

But I have doubts, if it is compatible to newer Redmine versions than 2.5

In general, is there a security risk, when I am working with such old versions V2.3.3 or V2.5.0 or should I urgently update to a current version?
