Installing Redmine in more than one Machine

Added by Jawad Alkhalaf about 4 years ago

Greetings Everyone,

I hope you all doing well. This is a quick question, that I've tried to work around it for a while and unfortunately I couldn't solve it.

I have installed Redmine on my machine and its working perfectly. Also, I added users to my project, and these user can be logged in to them from my machine. I installed Redmine on other machines, however I couldn't log in to any of the users from any other machine. I tried MAC and Windows machines. Also, made sure that I'm on the same URL. I'm connected to a local host.

Can anyone please advice, how can I log in to these users from other machines.

Hello Jawad Alkhalaf,

you have to install Redmine on a central server. There's no need to install it on other client machines.
To access it, all you need is a network connection to the server and a web browser.

Kind regards,

Bernhard

Appreciate your comment Bernhard Rohloff.

The Idea of this is for users to log in from their machines at home and contribute to the project.

Can this be done? And any advices on any central server?

My Regards,
Jawad

You should consider buying a server (for example, VPS) accessible from any computer with open access to the Internet.
Redmine could be installed on this server, but it would be highly recommended to outsource this task to someone more experienced in this matter - it is mainly about implementing proper security measures for access to such a server (e.g. by restricting addresses to specific IP addresses, blocking unnecessary services and use secure passwords/certificates).
