How do duplicate issues work?

Added by Yang Zhang almost 14 years ago

Currently, in Redmine, when I mark a ticket as a duplicate, it doesn't get closed. This is confusing to me (and others on the forum), since I'm familiar with the model used in other trackers where marking a ticket as a duplicate is a form of closing that ticket. It's annoying to have to mark a bug as a duplicate and then also remember to mark it as Rejected or Closed (and which one should it be?). (I've also read on the forums/tracker of how closing duplicates closes the duplicated ticket as well, but I don't believe I've encountered this myself.)

Am I misunderstanding how to use duplicate issues in Redmine? What's the right flow for marking and closing duplicates?

Thanks.

Duplicates get applied the same "closing" status (by default Closed and Rejected) as the issue they duplicate when it gets closed/rejected.
