is there any link between repository and issues?

hi

can redmine somehow pick up what files were changed in the repository (git) if the commit description contains issue number?

I'm not sure what link you expect between changed files and commit messages, can you be more explicit about what you are looking for?

let's say that for issue #333 I changed/created files xzy and zxw and then I would enter issue number #333 in the commit description. Then there would be new tab/section for each issue which would tell us what files are related to this issue based on the issue number. JIRA works like that. I was wondering if we have something similar in redmine.

You can reference issues from the commit message, see RedmineSettings, you can't make a reference from an issue to a specific file though.
