Custom field: searching for default value when default isn't set

I use redmine 1.1.2 and I have this problem: I have created a text custom field with no default value and min\max size =7.

If I want to display the result of all bugs that haven't specified this custom field, I encountered this error message translation missing: en, field_Commessa interna can't be blank

Any idea? Is a know bug or is my mistake?

basing on issue #7596 it seems that I must use "none" filter but I can't see it: what is?
