Can't change start and end dates for a ticket

Hello all,
We're using Redmine 1.3.0 stable and on some open tickets, we are unable to change the start or end date, or change the number of hours. Even I as the Redmine administrator can't update this ticket.
I have checked the configuration of the project and everything seems normal. What am I missing?

Still nothing ? This is becoming a serious problem since the upgrade to 1.3.0. We are still unable to update certain fields on tickets that have already been created.

Even as a redmine administrator, the fields are grayed out

I'm seeing the same problem with estimated time greyed out as well.
I duplicated the task and changed the dates and deleted the old one, but this is not a good solution because now anything referencing that ticked number is wrong.

We've just started using Redmine and this is a serious problem. Due dates change with a fair amount of frequency and we need to be able to update this for scheduling.
FYI, we currently have no plugins, just a vanilla 1.4.1 install.

I've discovered that this happens when you create an issue listing a parent issue. At that point you can't alter the dates on the parent ticket. Removing the parent issue number from the child issue will clear the dates on the parent issue, but you can change them. I've filed a defect report as this doesn't appear to be desirable behavior.

I'm new to Redmine and am loving it. We are using 3.4.5.stable and are having this exact problem. The workaround to remove the parent link, make the changes to the start/end dates, and then put the parent link back has worked but this is becoming a time consuming effort. Does anyone know when this issue will be resolved? Thanks!

It's actually not a bug but a feature. By default the start/end dates for parent issues are calculated by its child issues. You can change this behavior in the administrator settings menu. Head over to the 'Issue tracking' tab and look for the 'Parent tasks attributes' section.
