Confused about project version sharing
Added by Michael Powell almost 12 years ago
Hello,
I'm a little confused. Under what circumstances does it make sense whether to share a project version across what project scope? What does this mean exactly, that projects can potentially reference issue among other projects?
Thanks...

Imagine you have 2 Projects A and B. Project A has issue #1, project B has issue #2. If you have redmine set up to allow this, you can now cross-reference the issues by clicking "add" next to "related issues"...

Jan, what you describe is the function of the Allow cross-project issue relations setting, which is not exactly what Michael is asking about.
IIAR he's referring to Version sharing (a feature of versions, which are itself tied to individual projects) which allows you to use other project's target versions in other projects.
