Database compatibility between redmine 1.2.0 and latest 2.6.1 release?

Hi,

I am currently upgrading our 1.2.0 redmine to 2.6.1. .

Is the database compatible? Does anyone know?
Beside the standard upgrade routine - are there special things to take into account since the two versions are quite different (1.2.0 vs. 2.6.1)?

When simply copying the mysql/data folder I only get to see the main page but afterwards the mysql engine stops with error.
