Disabling/hiding Modules
Added by Michaela Gwynn over 9 years ago
Hello,
I need to create a public project that all members of my other projects can view, but I want to hide the overview and setting modules, or at the very least the members lists within these tabs, in order to keep the identities of members of separate projects private. How would I do that? Going along with that, I'd also like to hide the activities, issues, and calendar tabs. I really only need a public space for news and files.
Thanks.

Hi,
if it's public, people won't have to log in and be a member of the project (just like www.redmine.org, if you go to the activity tab there are listed only the contributors and admins). You can define roles as an admin, in order to prevent people from creating issues, editing stuff etc. In the settings tab you can (as an admin) disable all modules you don't want.
I hope this helps

Thank you. I used public in the wrong sense. I want to create a project that all my current users across multiple projects can see, but not the general public. Basically, I want to create a shared document library for all my users.

I see. If you uncheck all modules there still is the Overview and Activity module, and you want them gone. This can be achieved by messing with the code or writing a simple plugin. You might want to check out this:
