Installing Parabola on Libreboot with full disk encryption. Error "/dev/matrix/rootvol not found. Skipping fsck"
Added by Mikkel Rev over 2 years ago
I have been following this tutorial [ https://wiki.parabola.nu/Installing_Parabola_on_Libreboot_with_full_disk_encryption_(including_/boot) ] almost to the letter [more on this later]. However, in chapter 8, my attempt to boot from the grub command line fails, and I cannot continue. The error I am getting is "/dev/matrix/rootvol not found. Skipping fsck". And I end up in rootfs emergency shell. Please see the image attached below.
I notice two things that are odd (1) In the grub command line, I notice that using tabulator to get autocompletion works on "/dev" but grub stops autocompleting when I type more [e.g. "/dev/matrix" or "/dev/matrix/rootval" ] in the following line:
grub> linux /boot/vmlinuz-linux-libre root=/dev/matrix/rootvol cryptdevice=/dev/sda1:root
(2) I also notice that under chapter 5.2, the partition doesn't get named sda1, but mine becomes named sda because the one partition fills the whole drive.
What's the easiest way to troubleshoot why it doesnt find /dev/matrix/rootvol? Can I do it in the emergency shell or should I do it in the installer? How would I proceed?

You've posted to the wrong site. This is the forum for the Redmine project-management and issue-tracking software. You should probably head over to https://labs.parabola.nu/projects/parabola-community-forum/boards.
