Ability to rename or change the subject of an issue once it is created?
Added by John Pataki almost 15 years ago
As far as I know, in the verison of redmine I am using 0.8.0, there is no way to rename an issue once it is created. There is no field for the name (or subject) in "Update" or "Move" and no "Rename" link.
Is this correct and if so has it been changed in any later versions?
This is something that comes up at least once a month or so with my usage of this otherwise this issue tracking system. Someone will inevitably put a poorly named title (myself included) that really needs to be changed.
I usually end up going into the database to change it but it seems like such a hack to do this.
Thanks for any feedback.
John

There is a "More" Link next to the "Change properties" title of the edit box in current versions, but I don't know since when it's been there. Have a look at the guide to view a screenshot of where it should be.

Wow... hard to believe I've missed seeing that link this whole time using Redmine! Feels like a big "dooh"! Thanks

The placement of this button is really not very intuitive, I also searched for the rename function and then found this thread here.
I would suggest placing a separate "edit" button next to the title of the bug (where the current "update") is located. Update is also pretty confusing, since it allows to add new comments AND change existing informtion.

That was changed I think in Redmine 1.4 (at least that is what we run), clicking "update" brings up the ability to post comments, log times, and edit all attributes of the ticket, including it's title and description.
I don't really agree that there needs to be a different link for editing the title, considering you're really just updating the ticket with new information (being as all previous data gets journaled), and it doesn't lead to the same possibility of accidentally detecting changes which could happen in the description text area.

Hello Everyone,
Just noticed this post, and I also wanted to state that it is quite confusing to be giving the permission to users, to change the subject and description lines that were originally posted on the project. I would consider not all members should have such permissions.
Does anyone know any way we can adjust the this permission?
Thanks in advance!
