slow loading of activity page
Added by Anonymous over 14 years ago
i installed redmine, apache and postgres from the ubuntu repository:
- redmine version 0.93 stable
- apache + openssl + passenger
- postgres 8.4 running on the same system (localhost)
- integrated subversion via file:/// (local)
All is running fine and fast, e.g. browsing the svn repository with redmine (local file:///home/svn)
Only the activity view is very slow - and sometimes never loaded.
Here are some logs when loading the activity view:
postgres log
LOG: could not receive data from client: Connection reset by peer LOG: unexpected EOF on client connection
apache error log
[notice] Apache/2.2.14 (Ubuntu) DAV/2 SVN/1.6.6 mod_fcgid/2.3.4 Phusion_Passenger/2.2.7 mod_ssl/2.2.14 OpenSSL/0.9.8k configured -- resuming
redmine production log
Processing ProjectsController#activity (for 192.168.120.121 at 2010-08-06 15:02:35) [GET] Parameters: {"action"=>"activity", "id"=>"am", "controller"=>"projects"} Completed in 72ms (View: 0, DB: 14) | 304 Not Modified [https://192.168.120.119/redmine/projects/am/activity]
But i was waiting ~10 seconds for the response.
What is the problem here ?
Maybe network problems...

Same Problem here with Firefox. Activity page loads sometimes very very slow (30 - 60 seconds). After some time I see page content but style sheet seems to fail. Text black, much bigger and page layout is very basic.
In Redmine log I see page creation time is ~ 80 ms.
With IE (7) from same host and same time no problems.
Server

Please try clearing the caches on your browsers, the activity page is somewhat special in that it uses an ETAG to try to reduce load on the server.

Page loads one time after clearing cache fast. After this, page loads slow again.

I'm having a similar problem with my setup and clearing cache doesn't seem to help at all. While this problem is ocurring it appears that the server is locked up and no other clients are able to get a response for anything in Redmine.
Environment:
Redmine version 2.3.1.stable
Ruby version 1.8.7 (x86_64-linux)
Rails version 3.2.13
Environment production
Database adapter SQLServer
Redmine plugins:
no plugin installed
- Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
- FireFox 22.0
- IE 10
